Short, because this site collects very little. No analytics, no tracking cookies, no third-party scripts, and no advertising networks.
Who this applies to
This policy covers jameskdesigns.com and jameskdesigns.com.au, operated by JamesKDesigns (ABN 83 997 001 464), a service-area business working across the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, and remotely Australia-wide.
It explains what personal information is collected through this website, why, and what happens to it.
What is collected
When you use the contact form or email me directly: your name, email address, the website address you provide, and whatever you write in your message. Nothing else is requested and nothing is required beyond what is needed to reply.
Standard server logs. Like almost every website, the hosting server records the IP address, browser type and pages requested for each visit. These are generated automatically, used for security monitoring and troubleshooting, and are not linked to any individual.
Nothing else. This site sets no tracking cookies, runs no analytics, embeds no social media widgets, and loads no fonts, scripts or images from third-party servers. Nothing about your visit is transmitted to anyone else.
Why it is collected
Solely to answer your enquiry: to reply to a question, provide a quote, or arrange a meeting. That is the only purpose.
You will not be added to a mailing list, sent marketing you did not ask for, or contacted about anything unrelated to your enquiry.
Where it is stored
Contact form submissions are stored in this website’s database and also delivered to my email inbox. Direct emails sit in that same inbox.
The website is hosted on servers in Sydney, Australia, so your information stays onshore. My email provider may hold your message on its servers as part of delivering it, which is unavoidable for any email.
Enquiries are kept while there is a reason to: an active conversation, a quote under consideration, or a record of work done. Enquiries that go nowhere are deleted periodically.
Who it is shared with
Nobody. Your information is not sold, rented, traded or passed to third parties for marketing.
The only parties who technically handle it are the hosting provider and the email provider, as part of running the website and delivering mail. Information may also be disclosed where the law requires it.
How it is protected
Reasonable steps are taken to protect what is collected. This site is served over HTTPS, sends a full set of security response headers including a Content Security Policy, blocks the routes commonly used to enumerate user accounts, and does not disclose software versions.
No system is perfect, and anyone claiming otherwise should be treated with suspicion. If a breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, affected people and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner will be notified as required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
Your rights
You can ask what personal information is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Requests are actioned promptly and at no cost.
If you are unhappy with how a request was handled, you can raise it with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
